Autumn!

There are some things that are consistent and dependable. When the weather first starts to turn chilly, football games are underway, it's marching band season, and it stays dark later in the morning and gets dark a little earlier in the evening, you know it's Fall. I love this time of year! To some people, Spring is a time of renewal, and it is. But to me Fall is also a time of renewal. The weather modifies, school starts, and the crazy busyness of summer starts to wind down. Fall, with it's "....bouquets of freshly-sharpened pencils..." provides an anchor for families, especially those with children. It also signals the beginning of the holidays. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas with all of their fun and traditions will arrive before we know it.

Saturday, Michelle and I went to the high school football game to see Hannah perform the new field show with the marching band. It took me back to when we went to see Melissa perform with the color guard. Hannah posed for this shot. (Don't worry, she'll get over her shyness eventually.) We watched them perform and they did a really good job. Right after half-time, the skies opened up and it started to pour. The band left since their uniforms and instruments shouldn't get wet. But Michelle and I stayed, along with some friends and finished watching the game. It was fun huddling together under the umbrella while it poured down around us. The anticipation of fall and all that goes with it hung in the air, and it felt good. :o)
